FAQs About Motion Capture Performance

Help THNEA keep running!  All contributions go towards keeping our events going.

Bored at home? Daydreaming about landing your next project, or performing in a motion capture suit? Better yet, if you’ve never booked that mocap gig, are you curious what it's like? In this THNEA webinar, join motion and performance capture actor Walter Gray IV in discussing the pitfalls and joys of performing for motion capture. He'll go through real examples from past shoots (Uncharted anyone?) and what to expect when auditioning and booking a gig.

Walt Gray IV

After graduating from UCLA in 2011 with an MFA in Acting, Walter found work as a key set production assistant on a motion capture stage for Sony Interactive Entertainment America. Over 8 years he worked on the stage for various projects including (but not limited to) The Last of Us, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, Days Gone, Uncharted 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, The Last of Us Part II, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Death Stranding, and Marvel's The Avengers. Walt has also found work in voiceover and motion capture as an actor on a few of these projects, as well as some that are not yet released to the public. Having left Sony in October of this past year, Walt is now acting full time and directing in the VO booth for different upcoming projects at a recording studio.
